GE microwave ovens for have been disasters for at least six years and conventional ovens for more than  ten years.  How is it that GE can produce complicated diagnostic medical equipment, engines for military and commercial aircraft (which have their own defect history), and nuclear power plants, all the while running a world-wide media conglomerate, but they can't make a decent microwave oven or a conventional oven that doesn't send thousands of shards of glass throughout your kitchen?  These relatively simple modern conveniences we (should be able to) take for granted have been and continue to be the cause of:

  • microwave ovens:
    • house fires caused by defective control panel membranes
    • defective magnetron units
    • turntable motor failures
  • conventional ovens/ranges
    • exploding glass in both the interior oven and exterior door panels
    • defective control panels
    • imploding ceramic glass cook tops (which are never covered under the warranty)

If your GE Spacemaker microwave oven caught fire (popped, burned, smoked, flames, etc.) we want to hear from you so please complete the Contact form.  The model numbers of Spacemaker microwave ovens under investigation are:

JVM1300 -

  JVM1800 -

JVM1400 -

  JVM1900 -

The specific microwave fires that we have investigated so far - all JVM's - have all been manufactured by Samsung under contract to GE.  In addition, we are investigating reports of similar fires in models beginning with JES.  The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received reports of fires in these countertop models.

If your GE oven door spontaneously exploded, or the ceramic cook top imploded or collapsed, we want to hear from you so please complete the Contact form.

Click HERE to read one example of the many complaints we have received about exploding oven glass doors.  Whether we hear from refrigerator owners, microwave oven owners, or stove/range owners,  GE's product quality and customer service remains consistent.
